Tie’s Nomination Stories

Tie Hennessey is one of the most change-making, influential, positive people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Not only is he an incredibly kind soul to everyone he meets, but he has dedicated his time towards improving our communities. He’s an active, committed volunteer at the local Farmers Market, helping teach others to follow in his footsteps, and keep it running week by week. In a similar manner, Tie is a big part of Eco club in Denfeld, his passion for environmental sustainability encourages others to follow suite and help protect our planet. Lastly, and most notably, he has been a leader in the Duluth Dashboard program for the past 4 years, in which he pushed for and endlessly supported a summer program dedicated towards helping struggling middle schoolers start high school on a better note. He’s ceaselessly encouraged, supported, and helped dozens of students to feel like they could handle all that the high school experience has to throw at them. That’s the biggest gift that Tie brings to the community, the promise that change can be made, things can be improved, because people like him are trying. Tie is a peacemaker in every aspect of his life, and with each step he takes towards peace, he brings along everyone lucky enough to know him.
